F. E. (Frederick Elmer) Wait
Frederick Elmer Wait was born in Arden, Manitoba in 1897. He graduated from McGill Medical College in 1923. In Saskatoon Dr. Wait was the Assistant General Practitioner and Surgeon to Dr. Arthur Lynch for more than 9 years, after which he opened his own general practice. From 1942-1945 Dr. Wait was the Chief of Surgery at St. Paul's Hospital. He retired in 1964 at age 67. Elmer Wait combined his interest in photography with his professional work beginning in medical school, by keeping photo records of pathological specimens, fellow medical personnel and operating room scenes. He was a member of the Camera Club, ca. 1939-1951, and exhibited in the First Prairie Salon of Photography in 1939. He also exhibited with the Canadian Physicians Fine Art and Camera Salons, and has won awards for both his colour and black and white photography. Wait passed away in 1991 at the age of 93.
