Dylan Thomas

Poet and prose writer; began career as a reporter, reviewer and actor; worked for the BBC during the 1940s as documentary scriptwriter and as a radio commentator on poetry; gave public poetry readings, including extensive lecture tours in the USA; made sound recordings of his own work and that of others; wrote radio plays and film scripts; died of pneumonia caused by acute alcoholism
