J.E.H. MacDonaldCanadian, 1873 - 1932

The oldest member of the Group of Seven, MacDonald studied in Hamilton, Ontario from 1887 and worked in commercial art in Toronto and London, England until 1911. A superb graphic designer with a profound love and knowledge of nature, he was the poet of the Group. He taught at the Ontario College of Art commencing in 1920. From 1924 onwards, he largely confined his painting to annual holiday trips to the Rockies.
