David Wayne O'Hara
David O'Hara was born in London, Ontario in 1984. He was trained at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, in Toronto, Ontario where he graduated in 1971. In the mid-seventies O'Hara moved to Regina, Saskatchewan and began to work for the Ranch Ehrlo Society. The Society ran an outdoor rehabilitation program for youths who were referred to the program by governments across western Canada. O'Hara worked with the children and documented their lives while they were in the the program. The photographic work which resulted from this period was shown in an exhibition entitled Wilderness Challenge which was exhibited at the Rosemont Art Gallery (now the Art Gallery of Regina), and at The Photographer's Gallery in Saskatoon. Saskatchewan in the summer of 1978. O'Hara went on to document various communities and personalities in the North. David died in a boating accident on Lake McLean at La Loche, Saskatchewan at the age of 37.
