Russell Yuristy was born near Goodeve, Saskatchewan in 1936. He received his B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan. He took art classes at night school in Saskatoon and one year at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. He received his M.S. inArt from the University of Wisconsin. He joined the faculty of the School of Art, University of Saskatchewan, Regina, in 1967.
